  Szalai collapsed during Hungary's 4-0 Nations League loss to Netherlands on Saturday, something that reduced many players to tears. The game was halted while a medical tent was erected around the 36-year-old, who was later rushed to hospital in an ambulance. Now, the former striker has revealed he is on the road to recovery.

  In a Facebook post, he wrote: "Thanks for the lots of messages, I'm doing well."

  Hungary manager Marco Rossi added on Saturday: "He is conscious, able to speak, we wish him the best. I didn't see anything strange about him, he was perfectly fine and looked healthy, it hit us like a bolt from the blue."

  After the game resumed, the Hungarian Football Association issued a statement on social media.

  It read: "Adam Szalai fell ill in the first minutes of the Netherlands-Hungary match, but his condition is stable and he is conscious. Minutes ago, he was transported by ambulance to an Amsterdam hospital for examination."
